Rustic inspirations

We've had a couple gloomy days, I thought maybe a little color and lovelies would brighten the mood up for the weekend..

Martha Fridays: an offbeat celebration

After spending the night browsing the Martha site for some DIY inspiration, I stumbled on this super cute rustic wedding. Details ranging from vintage fabrics, 1060's surf music to boutonnieres of oak leaves and acorns , I absolutely LOVE everything about this wedding!! Definitely more ideas to add to the inspiration book.. the color scheme would be perfect for a late summer/fall celebration.

This gorgeous bouquet of roses, cactus dahlias, and pom-pom dahlias is accented with oak leaves and acorns.
I find this arrangement very whimsical.. just adore it.
p.s. how sweet is his tie?

lovely details..

How beautiful.. These floral arrangements are to die for. I love the mix of vintage cans, beautiful vases and a mix of vibrant colored dahlias, roses and fruit. The letters added to the mix is absolutely unique. Love LOVE LOVEEEE this idea.

**side note: When you get a chance, take a gander over to Meg Smith's website.. you won't be disappointed..

What a beautiful bouquet.. I love how the mix of deep red dahlias, deep purple hydrangea and purple Vanda orchids complement each other in this creation.

The bridesmaids bouquets are also wonderful.. each one has a base of deep purple hydrangea and deep red dahlias, deep red Rubicon roses, and a few black mini callas incorporated in the mix.
This would be fitting for a fall wedding or a black tie affair. LOVE..

Martha Fridays.. Silver Bells and Bouquets...

Photos from Martha Stewart.com

What a wonderful bouquet. Perfect for the winter wonderland wedding. Arranged beautifully in a small bouquet, the mix of Casablanca lilies and silver mesh leaves brings a touch of class to your overall look.
I really wasn't a fan of the white bouquet/white dress match up.. but this would work for me!
This combination would also go with any color scheme you decide for the maids..
Elegant and simple.

Pumpkins and mums.. How delightful!

Nothing like dark colored chrysanthemums to make someones day. On a walking tour in NYC, we walked past this pub called O'Neals. Outside on the front steps, they had a beautiful display of poted mums and strategically placed pumpkins lined up. I fell in love.
I have now decided, this is the look and feel I am going for. Dark red and burnt orange mums & pumpkins.. oh and leaves.. and paper lanterns! You can't forget them, can we?
I love the fall...

Introductions..

Obviously, Planning a wedding isn't easy.. keeping on budget probably isn't either. I can't imagine what goes through bride's minds when first getting engaged. Where do you start??

By no means do I know how to relate. I am un-wed, un-engaged and have absolutely no intentions of walking down any isles any time soon. (Ironically this is what I tell my boyfriend... which any women can agree with, is obvious bull-crap)

I love weddings. I love bridal magazines (remember.. not engaged). I love the look on my boyfriend's face when I open the mailbox and the magazines are busting out at the seams.. LOVE IT!! lol Absolute priceless-ness.

My obsession started at the tender age of 8. My dear fashion designer mother told me to start a book of ideas. In no time, it progressed to 5 "3 binders color coated with extreme detail and sample fabric swatches. It's all there. 33 different (sometimes ridicules) wedding scenarios.

Hopefully I can plan a moderately inexpensive/elaborate wedding..
Care to join me on my quest?
